Making a placenta remedy is of interest to many here are some simple instructions with thanks to this fantastic woman for sharing her birth with me and sharing her placenta remedy with you.
Photo Number Notes
- The bottles I am using to make the placenta remedy.
- Sterilising the bottle & lid in Milton’s solution.
- Quinn with his placenta.
- The maternal side of the placenta. We chose a piece from the lower right section in this photo.
- I used a sharp serrated knife but found the placenta was surprisingly tough to cut. I expected it to feel like cutting into a sponge, but it felt more like cutting a tough piece of stewing steak.
- After looking at the maternal side of the whole placenta, we chose this small lobe and cut it off. Coincidentally, the piece turned out heart shaped!
- Alex & I with the ingredients for the placenta remedy – placenta, brandy, and the bottle.
- Close up of the ingredients – 100mls of brandy, the placenta chunk, and the bottle, with the placenta itself in the background.
- The neck of the bottle was too narrow for the placenta chunk to fit through, so I had to cut it into quarters.
- We each put two pieces of placenta into the bottle.
- We next topped up the bottle with approximately 100ml of brandy.
- Sasha watched as I took photos of what we were doing.
- Day 1 – The bottle filled with about 100ml brandy and the chunks of placenta. This was put into a dark cupboard where it will sit for 7 days before the next stage.
- I shook the filled bottle over Quinn a few times.
- Quinn slept peacefully while we made today’s part of his placenta remedy.
- Another view of Quinn with the bottled placenta solution, over his heart.

very fascinating!!! so now that the remedy is on hand, what is it expected to be used for? is it similar to a homeopathic remedy? ok, i have more questions, so perhaps you can direct me to some more info about this?
one of your best posts yet lisa!

i made a remedy for Lilly, from this same site! it was really fun!!!!
i have only used it a few times since (she is now nearly 2), but when I have its been great! we use homeopathics when indicated, and i use lilly’s remedy when nothing else ‘fits the picture’ of if there is nothing actually ‘wrong’ but she is just maybe really unsettled with lots of changes etc (like around our recent wedding!)
highly recommend doing it!
next time i think i might make placenta pills too, for me
THANK YOU Lisa I enjoyed reading that off to the site now do you think it could be made with frozen placenta?
I can’t see why not if it were freshly frozen.
I did it from my frozen placenta, and asked
2 homeopaths what they thought and they
Both agreed it should be fine! Fresh is preferred
But frozen ok??!
Oh beautiful thank you Lisa and Rose I will give it a go and ring our homeopath as well
Lovely pics – and congrats to N! N and I had matching speedy births of a Sasha – I hope this birth went just as beautifully!
she had an amazing birth.
Hi, this sounds so great. I found where you can get the heart bottles from, for anyone interested in doing the same: https://www.localssl.com.au/epages/newdirections.sf/en_AU/?ObjectPath=/Shops/newdirections/Categories/16/141/2037/10365.

He he – Greg just threatened yesterday to chuck out my placenta if I dont do something with it soon (he wouldnt dare!!! surely not!!!). Its been in there nearly 2 years. I sort of forgot about it, maybe Ill do something with it soon. Not sure what, but I think coming up to her second birthday might be nice and symbolic to bury it in some nice rich soil 4 a plant…. its also going to be the start of her being away from me a few hours a week at Tots…so might be the perfect ritual. Thanks for showing me other options, and reminding me about Tilly and my placenta!
(:
caution…don't leave placentas in the freezer! our power went out and consequently Noah's placenta went yuck! Placenta print is a great idea..will do that this time!
